Ingredients:
– ½ liter milk
– 1 pack heavy cream (about 250ml)
– ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
– 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
– 8 slices white bread
– Ghee (for frying)
– Chopped almonds and pistachios (for garnish)
– Grated coconut or coconut powder (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Prepare Bread: Trim the crust off 8 slices of white bread, then cut each slice into 2 triangles (16 pieces total).
2. Fry Bread: Deep-fry the bread triangles until golden brown. Drain excess ghee and place them in a serving dish.
3. Make Milk Mixture: In a saucepan, combine milk, half of the cream, condensed milk, and ground cardamom. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the mixture thickens slightly.
4. Assemble: Pour the warm milk mixture over the fried bread slices in the serving dish.
5. Garnish: Drizzle the remaining cream over the top, then garnish with chopped almonds, pistachios, and grated coconut or coconut powder.
6. Serve: Serve warm or chilled, depending on your preference.
Enjoy your delicious Shahi Tukray!
Tips:
– Adjust the amount of condensed milk to your desired level of sweetness.
– You can also add a pinch of saffron for extra flavor and color.
– For added depth of flavor, try cooking nuts (like almonds and pistachios) in the milk mixture in the first step.
